career woman in Islamic perspective

Every human being from different backgrounds either gender, tribe, nation and language has a fundamental right that must be respected. One of them is the right to work. Charter of Human Rights Article 23 states that everyone has the right to work and to free choice of employment to suit his own. The majority of the world population are women who also have the right to work and a career in public. However, women working outside the home and career, as is happening today is a relatively new phenomenon.

New transformation seems to occur during the last two centuries in the world related to the tendency of women to work or career women in various fields. After the industrial revolution and the establishment of factories, investors looking for cheap labor, and women have been the option utamanya.Terkait this, Will Durant, a leading historian wrote, "Women are the cheapest labor than hardworking men paid more expensive .. " Until now, the trend is still going on, even increasing in number. Women fill the large factories around the world with cheaper wages than men.

Western view of the work relies on dredging profit and maximum profit. In a capitalistic society, the greater the benefit, the respect for which another party is getting big. So also with women. One of the principles in the view of Western Feminism insists that every woman has the right to work outside the home as men. More extreme, a stronghold of radical feminist assess the role of women as housewives as retarded woman.

Jessica Anderson, a specialist doctor woman said, "Work is just part of life, but not everything. Because the main task is to educate young women. Yet Western consumerism culture emphasizing instead the role of women outside the home. Role as mother and wife not only as a byproduct primary. Continuing this problem causes psychological distress and psychological continuously for the children and the mothers themselves .. "

If the West carries the name of gender equality respect for the rights of women, but the substance of it marginalizes women's primary role. Islam considers women and men have the same rights as human beings. But there are two main roles. In humanity, men do not have privileges than women at all. Islamic religion recognizes and accepts the role of women in society. The main role of the woman is not outside the house, but as a wife for her husband and mother to her children. Islam permits women to work outside the home, but the obligation to make a living lies in the hands of the husband. Employment for women is just an option, not an obligation.

Related to this, the Iranian Islamic Revolution Leader, Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei Udzma said, "Islam is not only allowed women to work, it could be important even for not disturbing the main role to educate children and keep the family. A country needs a labor of women in various fields. But that role should not be contrary to honor the values of spirituality and humanity of women .. ".

Islam respects women. And men should not force women to work inside and outside the home. That is, the domestic work of women at home is not an obligation, but an initiative taken by the wife with all his soul in order to maintain the integrity of the household. Islam gives special attention to the position of women. This divine religion into account a variety of factors ranging from physical structure, emotion and instinct, legal, and other aspects of women. Women have a strong feeling and instinct grace of Allah to the task of education and teaching people to deliver mankind to perfection.

Imam Ali quoting the hadith of the Holy Prophet said, "A person is not going to honor the women, except if the person is high-minded and noble. And someone will not degrade women, unless the person is low-spirited and despicable." With regard to the mother, which is none other than the woman, he said, "No matter how a dutiful son to his mother, he will not be able to make up for a single day of her pregnancy."

A number of psychologists stated that there are fundamental differences in the male and female psyche. For example, Professor Rick, an American psychologist says: "The world of men and women in total world completely different. Man with the physical and psychological characteristics different from the women in responding and addressing a variety of life events. Demands of man and woman based on her gender does not behave the same . Precisely them as two stars rotating in two different paths. Yeah, they can understand each other and understand each other. Yet they are clearly not the same. "

Al-Quran has its own principles about the social structure of society. Naturally, men and women have similarities and also differences. Substantially, in terms of the purpose of creation is essentially women and men are the same which is to worship Allah swt. In Islam it is recognized that men and women have the same nature and there is no difference between the two.

And other physical differences in men and women is not an essential difference. The Qur'an states that the purpose of human creation both men and women is to worship Him. He said: "And I did not create the jinn and man to serve me." (Surat al-Dzaariyaat [51]: 56)

Al-Quran explains that men and women have the same rights as outlined in the letter of Al-Tawbah verse 71, "And those who believe, men and women, partly they (are) a helper for another sebahagian. They told (working) ma'ruf, preventing it from being evil, prayers, practice regular charity and they obey Allah and His Messenger. they shall be given by the grace of God, surely Allah is Mighty, Wise. "

Professional differences between men and women are different with different rights. Islam considers men and women equal in terms of humanity and spirituality. In the history of Islam, Hadrat Zahra and Imam Ali attain a high position in terms of spirituality and both have different work roles. Work outside the home is the responsibility of Imam Ali in the house and done by Hadrat Zahra.

In the view of the Koran, the role of women in social and economic sphere must be in accordance with the nature of its creation. Islam regards women as men have a special status in society. This divine religion forbids women never run a social activity. But that role should not be down played a starring role as wife and mother.

Ayatollah Khamenei underlined the importance of women as mothers. He said, "... One of the important duties of women are raising their children with love and when they are ready to grow into a healthy human being, without the spiritual and psychological disorders, without problems, without feeling insecure or a variety of other problems that afflict generation Western youth in Europe and the U.S. today ... ". (IRIB Indonesia)
